Chalcedon Creed and Chickens
Chalcedon Creed: Christ has two natures, but is only one person. Ethiopian creed: If Christ has two natures, then logic dictates that He has to be two persons, since a nature cannot exist apart from being attached to a person (and a person cannot exist without a nature).
The baby chickens arrived. We unloaded thousands of them. They came in shallow plastic bins, 2′ by 3′ by 2 inches. I started out by slowly lowering the bin to the ground and gently tilting the bin so the chicks could almost crawl out onto the straw in the barn. Ashley’s dad said, “You don’t have to be so gentle; just dump ‘em”, as he up-ended a bin from a foot above the ground. I wanted to pet each one. The chicks huddled together for a couple of minutes, and then began running all through and on the straw on the barn floor. We had to finish the ‘dumping’ in a hurry in order to not step on any of them.
The Chalcedon creed and baby chickens that will be old enough to eat within five weeks. I’m confused.
In the afternoon, everyone helped out with getting the chickens settled and milking the cows, again. Late afternoon, we had one last lesson: How to choose the mission field God’s wants for you?
Afterwards, the parents joined us for the student presentations. Minji did an excellent job on the Maldives islands off the coast of India. An Islamic country with zero freedom of religion. 99.4% Islam. Can’t be a citizen without being Islamic. Beautiful but spiritually closed to Christianity.
The three guys gave us an exciting and thorough presentation of Italy. They all admitted that they knew almost nothing about Italy before they started their research. Why wouldn’t a person want to go to Italy as a missionary when the Italians have some of the best food in the world?
I think the parents enjoyed the evening. At supper, through all the laughter, the conversation turned to the differences between Canadian and American gun laws. Both sides learned lots.
During the meal, Ashley’s dad gave all of us “Moody” hats! Moody is an agricultural firm that he deals with as a farmer all the time. What a thoughtful surprise.
Tomorrow…more chickens arrive. The team will help Ashley do all the farm work for the last time. Phil and I have a couple of errands to do in the city. Then packing and winding down. Thinking about saying goodbye.
Wow, that went fast.
